It was 6:00 a.m. by the time the sun started to peak up on the horizon over the Chesapeake Bay. About an hour later, the water glistened as hundreds of triathletes crowded the dock at Susan B. Campbell Park in Downtown Annapolis. With the sounding of the horn from the Harbor Queen, the first wave of swimmers were off, beginning their journey of a 500 meter swim, 12 mile bike and 3.1 mile run.
Land Rover TriRock Annapolis played host to a sold out field of 1,341 athletes, some competing for a podium finish while others were set out to accomplish personal records or to simply cross the finish line at their first triathlon. All were kept entertained by the electrifying bands along the course and at the finish line, including the headliner rock band of High Voltage jamming out to a full house of participants celebrating their race with an ice cold beer and proudly displaying their medal around their necks.
