On a beautiful day in Philadelphia’s Fairmount park with ideal conditions for racing, Cameron Dye and Sarah Haskins held off strong pro fields to take the wins at font-family:Arial;mso-bidi-font-family:Arial”>the 8th Annual Philadelphia Insurance Triathlon. Haskins set a new women’s course record finishing in a time of 1:58:42. Excluding Haskins record breaking finish, the remaining pro women’s results were impacted by multiple disqualifications after it was ruled that a number of female pros had swum off course.
The pro field battled for the event’s $40,000 purse with Dye and Haskins each taking home a $10,000 first place prize. In addition to the cash prizes, Dye and Haskins each earned additional points in the Life Time Fitness Triathlon Series Race to the Toyota Cup.
The Cancer Center at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia is the official charitable partner of the 2012 PHLYTRI. A founding partner of the race, CHOP received $100,000 in contributions through race related programs and benefits greatly from the Karr Barth CHOP Charity Challenge at the PHLYTRI Sprint race.
The Philadelphia Insurance Triathlon is one of the top triathlons in the U.S. Founded in 2005, the race has grown from a one day event into a weekend triathlon festival with three days of competition and activities.
