The Austin Triathlon is ready to rock as it becomes part of the Land Rover TriRock Triathlon Series. Same date, same location, but now the race will include live bands along the swim, bike and run courses followed by a post-race party and concert. Taking advantage of the lively and popular music scene in Austin, as well as offering a scenic tour of one of the most beautiful cities in Texas, the race is bound to become a favorite amongst the series. Come get your rock on at Land Rover TriRock Austin on Labor Day, Monday, September 3, 2012.

The TriRock Relay

For those who prefer to race one element of the triathlon TriRock is offering a relay division. Relay teams will consist of three (3) members, each member will complete one segment of the event and “pass the baton” to the next member in the Transition Zone. There are no age groups for the relay division, all relay racers will compete for the fastest overall time.

Clydesdale/Athena Division

To qualify for the Clydesdale/Athena division male athletes must weigh 200+ lbs. and females 150+ lbs. Athletes will be weighed during awards for confirmation.

Rules and Regulations

All TriRock Series Events are USA Triathlon Association sanctioned events. For detailed explanation of all of the rules or for more information regarding the USAT please click here .

Swim Rules/Regulations

  1. PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR SWIM WAVE TIME AND BE PREPARED WHEN IT IS CALLED.
  2. The swim course is marked very clearly with large buoy’s.
  3. WETSUIT INFO: All races will be wetsuit legal. Wetsuits are recommended but NOT required!

Bike Rules/Regulations

  1. Helmets must be on AND fastened before you mount your bike.
  2. Do not mount your bike until you are out of the transition area and past the mount/dismount line.
  3. ABSOLUTELY NO RIDING IN THE TRANSITION AREA.
  4. STAY RIGHT ON THE BIKE COURSE UNLESS YOU ARE PASSING. DO NOT RIDE ABREAST FROM ANOTHER COMPETITOR UNLESS YOU ARE PASSING.
  5. Do not litter.
  6. No headphones, cell phones, or devices of any kind that play music.
  7. If you have a flat move your bike off to the right side of the course
  8. Emergency conditions may occur during the race. Please pay attention to your surroundings and follow the directions of course marshals, Police and safety personnel.

  • To compete in the relay division each team must consist of 3 members with each member doing an individual leg of the event.

Finish Line Procedures

  1. The finish line area will be filled with spectators, family and friends and the energy level will be high. Please enjoy the moment and do not elbow your way, or shoulder your way, past others in this area.
  2. Finish strong and run completely through the finish line arch.
  3. Your picture is being taken for you. Look happy, raise your arms and get into it. You don’t have to look at your watch if you don’t want to we will be keeping time for you.
  4. Keep moving through the finish line chute. It’s important that you walk a bit before stopping. Medical personnel will be watching you and volunteers will be assisting you. If you feel sick, faint or need any assistance don’t hesitate to ask for help for any of our volunteers.
  5. Be sure to drink plenty of water after you finish – Chilled bottles will be provided as you exit the finish chute.
  6. Exit the finish line area and walk towards the great entertainment and food at the post event celebration festival. We will be posting results continuously throughout the day, enjoy the great food.
  7. Most importantly, relax, hang out with your family and friends and High five yourself for a great accomplishment and a job well done!

Spectator Info

The Land Rover TriRock Austin Triathlon is a fantastic event venue to watch a triathlon. The downtown, multi-loop format allows for several opportunties to see your athlete. Spectators are welcome to roam the event site and cheer on their friends and family members. There are very few places that spectators will not be allowed, but there are a few rules & guidelines:

  • Do not enter any part of the race course.
  • Use designated crosswalks only when instructed by volunteers and always look both ways and behind you before crossing the course.
  • Please do not jump fences, sneak through gaps, or cross marked boundaries.
  • Please do not challenge volunteers. They are providing instructions for a reason and are most concerned about the athletes safetly.
  • Spectators and/or family members are not allowed into the transition area.
  • Spectators are welcome to help themselves to water.
  • Official race food and drink is for the athletes and volunteers only. Some of our partners will also be giving away free samples, or selling food.
  • Be sure to stop by the Team-In-Training Inspiration Station booth at the Expo or their tent at the race site to make a personalized sign to encourage your athlete.

Minimum age
The minimum required age to participate at TriRock Austin is 14 years of age on the date of the event.

Average Times
SPRINT: The typical male winning times are 48min and female winning times are 55min. Average finishing times range from 1:10-1:40, with the final finishers typically coming in just over two (2) hours. INTERMEDIATE: The typical male winning times are 2 hrs and female winning times are 2.5hrs. Average finishing times range from 2:15-3:00, with the final finishers typically coming in just over four(4) hours.

What should I bring with me on race day to the transition area?
Transition Area Checklist:

  • Two towels (large and small)
  • Water bottles (bottle of water)
  • Food (bars and/or gel)
  • Swim goggles
  • Swim cap (you must wear the cap issued in your race packet)
  • Timing chip and band
  • Race belt and bib (or use safety pins)
  • Watch or heart rate monitor
  • Bike
  • Shoes (both biking and running if using two pair)
  • Socks
  • Helmet
  • Glasses
  • Seat pack (tube, patches, tire levers, multi-tool, co2)
  • Running hat
  • Body Lubricant (BodyGlide)
Will there be professional medical personnel on hand?
Medical personnel are stationed throughout the race course for your safety. Emergency Medical Technicians and vehicles are located in key areas for each event. Every measure is taken to ensure the safety of all athletes. The Medical Tent is fully staffed with medical professionals for both participants and spectator needs.
What if I cannot participate once I have registered?
All registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable. Once we receive and accept your entry, you will not receive a refund. If you cannot participate, you may not give or sell your entry to anyone else and entry fees will not be transferred from year to year or to another city. We will be happy to ship you a T-shirt from the event up to 30 days after the event. Please contact us if you would like to receive your T-shirt. T-shirts will be mailed 4-6 weeks after the event.

• We will be taking individual registration at the Expo/Packet Pick-Up if available.
• There is NO race day registration!
• USAT licenses are required, non USAT members may purchase a 1 day license for $12.

USAT Membership

1. Annual Membership

a. Annual members must show proof of a current membership in order to participant. If proof is not available then the participant must purchase a one-day license or renew their membership.

2. One-day License

a. $12 one-day fee for all participants aged 18 and older

b. Online registration will only offer the $12 one-day USAT fee for participants over the age of 18. If the participant is under 18 years old, please contact our office to register with the $10 one-day USAT fee (800-311-1255).
